A great way to see any city!
When my brother, nephew and I were in London, I booked a hop on-hop off bus tour through Big Bus Tours so we could see all the city and as the name suggests; hop off when we felt like it. I woke up early again (due to jet lag and did a jog around Kensington Gardens) and then after breakfast we walked up to the main street to catch the bus – really easy as there are so many stops to get on board. There are a few lines to choose from and I chose the longer line that went past Madame Tussaud’s as my brother and nephew wanted to get off – I had said to them that I didn’t think it would be that great but they still wanted to go…mmm more about that later!
So off we go and go past so many fabulous sights and structures…We sat upstairs on the open air bus even though it was a little cool but we had good views of everything. Then it started to rain so we moved under the canopy but still remaining upstairs – I think it’s so much better to see the sights from the top of the bus…And isn’t Big Ben just fabulous…even though it’s being refurbished, it still looks fab..just one of those incredible sights in the world you have to see…What history London has and what incredible buildings…My brother and nephew then left the bus to go visit Madame Tussades – who told me later that it was not really worth the visit…but they did have some favourites – royal family, Usain Bolt, Audrey Hepburn and Elvis – who they said were more lifelike!
But I am still on the bus enjoying the London sights…And what history and sights there are, across the Thames…Looking out at the amazing London Bridge…And the Borough Markets building…What a city….and after about two hours I decided to leave the bus and walk back to our Airbnb through the parks…great day!

My first visit to any big city includes a trip on the hoho bus. It gives me a snap shot of the city and also where I want to spend time. The last time I was in London I spent an entire day on hoho buses, way too much but super.

Oh Sue, your artistic photos capture the history of London so well, what great memories to return home with. Madam Tussauds wouldn’t be my first choice either but the photos of your nephew with some of the waxwork figures are really good. Hope you’re having a good weekend. M.

I agree with you with hop on hop off bus… it’s a better way to get good photo ops in every corner especially at the top!

A hop-on hop-off bus tour is a great way to get the lay of the land when you first arrive in a city! I’ve done a few abroad, but never in London.

I haven’t tried the hop on bus in London but I did in Dublin many years ago! It’s a good way to get a general idea of the city.

That’s the best part of the blog Sue, being able to look back and remember where we went, it brings it to life so much more than just photos. Oh, and of course, being in touch with such lovely bloggers too!! Marion

I had most travel before my 30’s when I became a divorced Mom of three kids. Travel became quite fun to go to my parents’ lake house year-round. They were retired early and so supportive of my children. We had simple joys like campfire and s’mores, so yummy! We played card or board games in winter, while also hiking or swimming when weather was warm enough. Thanks, Sue.
You are a kind and accepting blogger.
